Accessibility statement

This is the working draft shipped with the closed family beta. It has not been reviewed by counsel and is not legal advice. The provider details below come from configuration.

Our commitment

Redpen should be usable by everyone who studies with it, including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard only, magnification or a small screen. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA, which is the technical standard behind EN 301 549 and the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882).

Conformance status

Partially conformant. Our automated checks (axe-core, run over every page a signed-in guardian, student or staff member can reach, at desktop width and at a 320 pixel wide screen) find no serious or critical problems. We have not yet completed a manual pass with screen readers (NVDA, VoiceOver, TalkBack), so we cannot yet claim full conformance. Automated tools find only part of all possible problems.

Last reviewed: 8 October 2026 (automated checks only).

Known limitations

  • Screen reader behaviour has not been tested by hand. Parts we most want to check: how maths is read aloud, how struck-out and rewritten lines are announced, and where keyboard focus goes after a line is updated.
  • Pages that appear only while a case is being written or when writing fails are not covered by the automated checks yet.
  • Options for larger text and wider spacing are not built yet. The pages do respond to your browser’s zoom and text-size settings.
  • Legal texts and some help text may appear in English when no translation exists yet.

Tell us about a problem

If something on Redpen is hard or impossible to use, write to bjorn@nerdblom.se. Tell us the page, what you tried to do and, if you can, which browser and assistive technology you use. Please do not include a student’s homework or personal details. We will answer and, where we can, fix the problem or offer another way to do the same thing.

Enforcement

[Placeholder, for legal review:] the name and contact details of the national body that handles complaints about accessibility, to be confirmed before launch. If you are not satisfied with our answer you can contact that body.
