How Redpen works

For students

What do I do in a case?

Read the machine’s answer line by line. Strike a line you think is wrong, rewrite it, pick the error type, and optionally add a note. Verify the lines you are sure are right. Then submit your ruling.

Can the machine be completely right?

Yes. About one case in five (if your guardian has the bounty on) has no mistakes at all. If you think so, verify every line and choose Rule it clean. A correct clean ruling pays double; flagging a correct line costs points.

Keyboard shortcuts

J and K move between lines. X strikes, V verifies, R opens the rewrite box, T the error type, N the note, U undoes, and ? shows this list. You can turn shortcuts off in your settings.

I forgot my password

Ask your guardian. They can reset it from your settings page and print a new sign-in sheet.

For guardians

How do I add a student?

Verify your email, then choose Add a student on the Family page. You get a sign-in sheet with a username, a temporary password and a link. The student chooses their own password the first time they sign in.

What can I control?

The daily case limit, whether the bounty is on, a fixed difficulty, and whether you can see the student’s notes. You can reset the password, rotate the sign-in link, withdraw consent or delete the student at any time.

Is this a homework solver?

No. A clean solution is never shown before the student rules on the case, and results are practice data, not grades.
